Posted by 3 weeks ago.

Summer is bliss in Lenawee County – activities abound for kids and families, couples, and pets, too! It's easy to pack your itinerary with low cost and free things to do with the whole family! With schools releasing kiddos for the summer, checkout some of the favorite summertime picks here in Lenawee.

The Centre Corner Park – Up first, The Centre Corner Park located at 1800 US 223, this adventure is just a short drive from downtown Adrian. Bring the family for a day full of memories while you bounce, climb, splash, and swing together. The 2,000 square foot park features a giant bounce pillow, a rope climbing dome, a zip line and a 25 yard outdoor pool. It's a place for fun, community, and fellowship with ample shaded seating, concessions, free wireless internet access, and so much more! The Centre offers annual memberships, welcoming you to use their facilities throughout the entire year – or affordable daily guest passes are also available.

The Tecumseh Paddling Company is sure able to take you on a GRAND adventure! Did you know Lenawee County is home to what is considered to be one of the worlds ‘crookedest' rivers? The River Raisin! The natural terrain of the River Raisin is sure to bring excitement as you duck under tree branches and sometimes maneuver around them, too! Take a one to two hour – three mile - ‘loop' kayak trip beginning and ending at the Tecumseh Paddling Company base location off of M50. The cost for this little adventure will be approximately $15 a person (per single kayak) – and that's a pretty low cost adventure.

On a lovely summer evening we love to checkout Twin Pines Ice Cream and Stone Mountain Mini Golf on Russell Road in Tecumseh. Located amid the same parking lot, this gem allows for you to fulfill your competitive nature on the attractive mini golf course and celebrate your winnings with delicious ice cream at the ice cream shop! The mini golf course features water falls, a cave that you can putt through, streams, challenging holes, a suspended bridge, a covered bridge, and pleasant staff all within a relaxing atmosphere.

Just a short drive down the road is the Cal Zorn Recreation Center and this place has something for everyone! The Cal Zorn Park is home to Dog Daze Park and The Pad. The pad is a FREE water splash pad (open 11 am 8pm). Bring the kids to cool down on a hot summer day, but don't forget about the pup! Dog Daze is the perfect place to let your dog run free (registration required)! The park also features shade areas, a picnic shelter, swings, baseball diamonds, a basketball hoop and other sports fields allowing the whole family to stay on the move.

And finally, Hidden Lake Gardens is one of Lenawee's grandest gems. A place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and connect with the peace and serenity of nature; this 755 acre property is any nature lover's paradise. Located in the Irish Hills it's a short drive from Adrian, but sure to be worth the drive. Hidden Lake Gardens features a conservatory, six miles of paved roads (too hot to get out of the car? Stay in the car and do a little sightseeing from the comfort of your air conditioning), ten miles of hiking trails, and many educational programs.

Don't book a plane ticket this summer, make your summer all about the “stay-cations.” If you're looking for charming countryside, hometown bliss and more than fifty lakes to enjoy this summer, Lenawee County is where you want to be. I shared with you my TOP FIVE – but there really could be a Top 20! Lenawee County is also home to Michigan International Speedway, Cherry Creek Winery, Tecumseh Brewing Company, The Lenawee County Fair and SO much more!
