13 Adventures for Kiddos During Quarantine

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, many families are finding themselves in quarantine, spending lots of time within the walls of their home.  How are you keeping the kiddos busy during quarantine? We love a good adventure here at The Wagley Group, so we thought we’d share with you a few of our favorite Covid-19 Quarantine adventures. But don’t be fooled, these adventures will be fun even after “lock-down.”

#1 Become a Park Range! Thanks to technology, you can virtually visit the Mud Volcano, Mammoth Hot Springs, and so much more with a digital field trip to Yellowstone National Park. Link: https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/photosmultimedia/virtualtours.htm

#2 Become a baker! Most kids love to spend a little time in the kitchen baking cookies, cakes, brownies. Anything! This adventure is educational too! Baking is a great lesson in measuring, ingredients, and of course, the plus is making delicious goodies.

#3 Become an astronaut and check out Mars! You’ll be sure to love this one just as much as the kids. Hop online and explore the surface of Mars with this digital 360° camera. https://accessmars.withgoogle.com/

#4 The space fun doesn’t have to end with your trip to Mars, your kiddos will love listening to an astronaut read from space! Storytime From Space is unlike any other kind of Storytime; NASA astronauts read stories to kids while they float around in space. Link: https://storytimefromspace.com/

#5 Become an artist and make your very own self-portrait! If you want to keep things simple, you can use crayons or markers. But if you want to spice it up a little, switch to a more unconventional medium: buttons, food – think pasta or candy, yarn, or anything else you can find! Be sure to setup your own art gallery – the fridge is the perfect place for the show!

#6 Become a pirate! Treasure hunts are pretty easy and depending on how many items there are, could last a while. Hide anywhere from 10 to 20 items around the house or outside – use tape or sticky notes to put an X on each item – “X marks the spot!” Be sure to make up a map to keep the kids occupied for a few hours.

#7 Become a dog trainer! You know we love the pooches here at TWG! If the family dog doesn’t know how to sit or stay, start there. If he’s ready to move onto more complex tricks, try focusing on training an hour a day. Maybe even work on some tougher ones, like down and roll-over!

#8 Become a Marine Biologist! Many aquariums across the country have turned on the cams and are offering families the opportunity to virtually visit the aquarium! Checkout the beluga whales at the Georgia Aquarium! The cameras are live, so you can watch anytime. Link: https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/webcam/beluga-whale-webcam/

#9 Become a chef! Make a pizza with what you’ve got in the fridge! Whatever you have laying around the house, that’s what’s going on your homemade pizza! The kids will love the opportunity to get creative with their own food!

#10 Become an African Safari Guide! Learn more about the wildlife of Africa by checking out this African wildlife cam situated by a busy watering hole. Be ready, the hippos stay pretty active around the watering hole! Link: https://explore.org/livecams/african-wildlife/african-watering-hole-animal-camera

#11 Become a bird watcher! Open up the blinds or pull a chair up on the back deck. Can you identify five types of birds and then research them?

#12 Become a veterinarian! What’s better than a live stream of puppies playing all day long? Head on over to this live puppy cam! You’re sure to stop by more than once when you see how precious these pups are! Link: https://explore.org/livecams/currently-live/service-puppy-cam

#13 And lastly, go for a walk as a family! It’s sure to be one of your best adventures yet!
