“The early bird gets the worm.” The proverb used to tell you to act early if you want to be successful! When someone tells you, “The early bird gets the worm,” what they mean is that if you do something before anyone else, you will have an advantage.
So when, Joe Wagley recently used the several hundred-year-old proverb, we knew we needed to listen up! Despite the frigid temps that are hitting Southeast Michigan, the Real Estate market is hot! There is extreme value to getting ahead of the curve in today’s market, the demand for homes will continue while the shortage of inventory remains.
The mild winter that we have experienced has allowed for favorable weather, which means showings are happening. As you prepare to conquer open houses in our area, remember these things:
- Plan Ahead: Make the most of your time and try to hit more than one open house on a weekend afternoon. In doing so, make sure you’re giving yourself plenty of time at each home.
- Focus on the Property: No agent will expect you to treat their open house like a social hour, so get in there and get down to business!
- Photos? : Be sure to ask before taking photos or videos. Remember the home you’re in is still someone’s personal property.
- Questions: We encourage you to ask lots of questions, but just remember to be polite in doing so.

Joe encourages, “Don’t be afraid to expose your home as a seller or begin your search as a buyer.” Having a competitive advantage from a client perspective is a good thing. So be early, fly like a bird, and get that worm!
