Finally! Now…by the grace of God, I get the chance of a lifetime. Why did He pick me over the billions and billions of other options available to Him…with all the possible combinations that could be? Really, His choices are limitless. And yet, God thought enough to give me an opportunity…at this particular time in history. Why on earth, was I even given a chance?
Who am I to say otherwise? My God is sovereign and knows all. He never makes mistakes. All His ways are pure, just and true. Why would anyone want to step in the way of what God has ordained, despite the wisdom of the world or the catch phrases and opinions of the past leading up to the present day?
This journey for me/us began a long time ago. You see, before anything was, we captured the attention of the Creator of everything. He actually, which is very difficult for me to comprehend, had us on His mind before anything started. How cool is that?
In His Love Letter, God describes it like this. “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. You saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:13-16 ESV
That special Book also makes a note that we [all of us people] are the crown of His creation and with that alone…by association, we enjoy many responsibilities.
“Every beast of the field is mine. The cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine. Psalm 50:10-12 ESV
What does this mean? It simply means that God owns everything, including our very lives. Why then would He fashion and knit our “one of a kind” souls and bodies together before anyone would know? Because of His extravagant love for me…and for you.
Someone whispered to me a very long time ago that God is in the business of making masterpieces. Just check out the individual snowflakes and the sunsets, etc. And each person. All are unique and one-of-a-kind.
I have a sense that in the beginning, all of us were on God’s mind. We were close to Him. And we are all formed in His likeness and in His image. Absolutely incredible, if you ask me.
The exciting thing is, is that our entire lives were hidden away in Christ until we came to be. As our lives unfold the pages for us…nothing takes Him by surprise because everything has already been written in another book.
People will always weigh in on this important topic. The topic of life—at the beginning and at the ending. God has His opinions as well. They are vividly on display for all to see.
God gave us the free will to choose a long time ago. We would all do well to consider His thoughts regarding these important matters of the heart, before regretful decisions are made concerning the lives of the unborn. How cruel people can be toward one another. Even toward the defenseless and innocent. Oh, the cries of those whose voices have been silenced…those whose utterances have not been heard.
“Blessed be the LORD! For he has heard the voice of my plea for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” Psalm 28:6-7 ESV
I give thanks to my God who hears my/our collective cries for mercy, our cries for help. He will not leave or forsake us. For what can man do to us… God is our helper and our portion forever
